Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 1st T20I – Match Highlights & Full Commentary
Bangladesh started the T20I series with a solid win over Pakistan, continuing their good form after recently winning the T20 series in Sri Lanka. Playing at home in Mirpur, they were confident and looked well-prepared for the conditions. Pakistan will need to bounce back quickly before the second game on 22nd July. Join us again then. Until that, it's goodbye from all of us!
Post-match Reactions
Litton Das (Bangladesh Captain):
"We know this pitch really well because we’ve played a lot of matches here in Mirpur. It’s never easy to bat on, but I think we did well. In the second innings, the ball was easier to play—maybe because of the dew. Our bowlers did a great job early and got us some quick wickets. Catching is part of the game—sometimes you take stunning ones, sometimes you drop the easy ones. Fizz (Mustafizur) is always reliable here. Shakib and Taskin also bowled well. The top four batters have been performing recently, which is great. Hridoy is more experienced now and plays smarter cricket. And Emon batted really well today."
Parvez Hossain Emon (Player of the Match):
"I’m just happy the team won. We stayed positive and looked to score whenever we got the chance. I really enjoyed hitting those sixes!"
Salman Ali Agha (Pakistan batter):
"We didn’t score enough. We had a decent start but kept losing wickets, and that made things tough. We’ll talk it through and try to do better in the next match. In Bangladesh, you don’t always get great batting pitches. We needed to rotate the strike more. Our bowlers did their best, but when you’re defending just 110 runs, there’s no room for mistakes. That’s how T20 goes—we’ll keep learning."
Match Summary
The game ended at 9:22 PM local time in Mirpur, and it was a convincing win for Bangladesh. Their bowlers set the tone early with tight, disciplined bowling. Later, the batters—especially Parvez Hossain Emon—took charge and finished the match strong.
Pakistan had a brief moment of hope when debutant Salman Mirza struck twice in his first two overs. But Emon and Towhid Hridoy responded with an aggressive partnership that completely shifted momentum. Emon stayed unbeaten till the end, guiding Bangladesh to a comfortable win.
Pakistan looked rusty, and wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris had a rough game, dropping two easy catches. Only the debutant Mirza impressed with the ball.
